Panchakarma
Panchakarma is a powerful therapy that can help improve digestion, boost immunity, reduce stress, and alleviate various health conditions. At Ojas Herbals’ personalized treatment and supportive environment, patients can experience the transformative benefits of this ancient ayurvedic therapy.

Ayurveda is a comprehensive medical science that addresses the underlying causes of ailments and cures them from roots. Ayurveda generally provides two sorts of treatments:
- Shamana Chikitsa: This treatment involves the administration of natural medications to alleviate symptoms.
- Shodhana Chikitsa: Shodhana Chikitsa refers to the cleaning of the body internally through the use of different processes that combine to make Panchakarma.
According to Ayurvedic scriptures, diseases cured by Shodhana or Panchakarma Therapy would never recur. However, those treated with Shamana Therapy may reoccur.
The essentials of this potent detox method are described in the Charaka Samhita, one of the oldest classical scriptures of Ayurveda:
A cleansed and purified digestive tract stimulates metabolism, reduces disease, and maintains normal health. Strength, proper nutrition, healthy progeny, and potency are the results of improving sense organs, mind, intelligence, and complexion. Aging symptoms do not show so easily, and the person lives a long and disorder-free life. As a result, elimination therapy must be carried out appropriately and at the appropriate time.
What is Panchakarma in Ayurveda?
Panchakarma is a specialized Ayurvedic treatment that aims to detoxify and rejuvenate the body by eliminating toxins and restoring the balance of the doshas in the body. The term “panchakarma” translates to “five actions” in Sanskrit, and these five actions are considered to be the foundation of this therapy. In other words, the Panchakarma healing technique is a pillar on which the majority of Ayurvedic techniques stand.
The five actions of Panchakarma include Vamana (therapeutic vomiting), Virechana (therapeutic purgation), Basti (therapeutic enema), Nasya (therapeutic nasal drops), and Rakta Mokshana (therapeutic bloodletting). Each of these actions plays a unique role in eliminating toxins and restoring the balance of the doshas or the three bodily humors – Vata, Pitta, and Kapha.
Panchakarma treatments involve:
Vamana (therapeutic vomiting)
Vamana involves inducing vomiting to eliminate toxins and excess mucus from the upper respiratory and digestive tracts. This treatment benefits people with Kapha dosha imbalances, such as congestion, asthma, allergies, weight gain, and hyperacidity.

Virechana (therapeutic purgation)
virechana involves using laxatives or herbs to induce bowel movements and eliminate toxins from the lower digestive tract. This treatment benefits people with Pitta dosha imbalances, such as liver disorders, skin conditions, and digestive problems.
Basti (therapeutic enema)
Using medicated oils or herbal decoctions to cleanse and nourish the colon. This treatment benefits people with Vata dosha imbalances, such as constipation, gas, and joint pain.

Nasya (therapeutic nasal drops)
This involves applying medicated oils or herbal extracts to the nasal passages to cleanse and nourish the sinuses and respiratory tract. This treatment benefits people with Kapha and Pitta dosha imbalances, such as sinusitis, allergies, and headaches.
Rakta Mokshana (therapeutic bloodletting)
This involves removing a small amount of blood from the body to eliminate toxins and balance the doshas. This treatment benefits people with Pitta and Kapha dosha imbalances, such as skin disorders, fever, and inflammation.

Who can go for Panchakarma?
Panchakarma can be performed on persons aged 18 to 70. A full panchakarma treatment usually takes 21 days. Although it can be tailored to your specific needs. Panchakarma is typically advised as the seasons change. In general, we can finish 2-3 Panchakarma sessions per year.
